The Arc establishes endowment fund at Community Foundation

In honor of The Arc of the Quad Cities Area’s 70th Anniversary in 2022, The Arc has established two new endowments at community foundations on both sides of the river. These endowments augment The Arc’s services and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The Arc’s newly established endowments span the river. Funds at The Quad Cities Community Foundation will benefit The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa Endowment which supports Enhanced Horizons and The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa Holiday Party.

One of the many things we love about The Arc is that they put the people they support at the center of everything they do,” said Anne Calder, vice president of development at the Quad Cities Community Foundation. “We are thrilled to be among their community partners as they establish the organization’s nonprofit endowment funds. As they grow the fund, it will be a permanent source to support the Arc’s critical work not only in the years ahead, but forever.

Funds at The Moline Foundation will support The Arc’s Emergency Assistance Fund for people served by The Arc who need direct financial assistance on an emergency basis.“ Since 1952, the Arc has provided invaluable local support and advocacy for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The establishment of this endowed fund will allow likeminded individuals to ensure the Arc’s future success,” said Paul Plagenz, president and CEO of The Moline Foundation. “We are honored to be included with other community partners and look forward to growing this vital legacy fund.”

The Arc has a goal to raise $70,000 for The Arc of the Quad Cities Iowa Endowment and $70,000 for The Arc’s Emergency Assistance Fund in honor of The Arc’s 70th Anniversary. Be a part of The Arc’s future, so we can keep the promise set by our founders in 1952, that a bridge to a better, more inclusive and accepting future will not remain unfinished. A future that unites both sides of the river and connects our common goals and destiny.

“We are asking our community to be a part of a better tomorrow,” says Michael Glanz, executive director of The Arc of the Quad Cities Area. “Gifts toward either of these funds will be permanently endowed and grow into perpetuity. They give donors a voice into the future.”

The Arc promotes the equal treatment of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community life and supports individual’s interests so as to make available their full productive capacities. The Arc of the Quad Cities Area's mission is to empower people with disabilities to believe in their own unique abilities to achieve their full potential by providing quality, innovative services that focus on advocacy, independence, meaningful community life and personal happiness.
