Geneseo teens and parents kick-off 2013/2014 youth philanthropy

In late August I had the opportunity to attend the Teens with a GIFT of Foresight (TGF) youth philanthropy orientation meeting with my son, who is now a freshman. Besides the two of us, there were returning sophomore, junior and senior members as well as all other freshman students and interested parents.

Mike Ricketts, President of the Board for Geneseo Is For Tomorrow (GIFT), led the meeting.

He did an AMAZING job educating both parents and students on philanthropy and our local community. He mixed in several fun ice-breaker
type activities that really got the kids loosened up and comfortable with each other. Mike’s wife, Kim Ricketts helped him with these activities. They both provided such a warm and relaxed environment for all of us!

Not only did the kids learn a lot about the TGF youth philanthropy program, but they also learned about the Quad Cities Community Foundation and its affiliate, GIFT.

We have wonderful people in our community doing great things to help our kids learn and give back.
