This is a moment for leadership.

It is also a moment to turn attention to the health and wellbeing of our entire community.

The Quad Cities Community Foundation is activating the Quad Cities Disaster Recovery Fund immediately, and our Board of Directors has committed $100,000 to the fund for our community’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic. The funds are available thanks to the generosity of donors who have given to the Community Foundation’s Quad Cities Community Impact Fund.

The economic impact is already being felt in the Quad Cities, and more needs will certainly arise in the days and weeks ahead.

We are not alone in our efforts. The Regional Development Authority has matched our commitment of $100,000 to the Disaster Recovery Fund. ARCONIC, Ascentra Credit Union Foundation, Estes Construction, Russell Construction, and Quad Citizens near and far have also already made gifts. We invite you to join their generosity.

We will first focus on disproportionately affected communities by addressing the economic impact of reduced and lost work already resulting from the outbreak, immediate needs of economically vulnerable populations caused by novel coronavirus-related closures, and the increased demand for medical information and support. The long-term application of the fund will focus on additional needs that will inevitably arise.

The Community Foundation will administer grants from the Disaster Recovery Fund in collaboration with regional organizations coordinating pandemic response. Funds will be released on a rolling basis as fundraising continues throughout the outbreak and recovery phases of this crisis, making it possible to move resources quickly and to adapt to evolving needs in subsequent funding phases.

We wish we could predict what tomorrow will bring. We cannot. But what we can promise is that we stand willing and able to work with generous people like you to ensure that Quad Citizens have the support they need in the days and weeks ahead. Take care of yourself, and take care of one another.

Please make a contribution to the fund online right now.
