Championing generosity, and the region

By Sherry Ristau / President and CEO

We are proud to be a champion of the Quad Cities regional vision, and today, we want to take a moment to shout that to the masses once again.

Over the past year, community members came together—to work together—on ways to take the Q2030 Regional Vision to the next level. Today, I had the opportunity to stand with some of those Quad Citizens at the Esperanza Center in Moline as we announced a new nonprofit organization for Q2030 that will inject more energy, more collaboration, and more investment in our community’s vision.

During the press conference today, I couldn’t help but think of the role our donors, volunteers, nonprofit partners, board, and staff has played in championing the regional vision forward.

The Quad Cities is recognized globally in 2030 for growing and attracting talent and businesses, is energized by a diverse and culturally rich community, inspires innovation, and embraces lifelong learning.

Together with you, we have been active and engaged in seeking this vision—from committing staff time to lead committees during the vision’s deployment to hosting Big Table conversations at our offices and in our homes (remember when we could do that?). We looked at how we engage it in our philanthropic work—from evolving grantmaking criteria to support the vision to even changing our name to the Quad Cities Community Foundation.

Thanks to the support of donors to our Quad Cities Community Impact Fund, we have been able to award more than $1 million in Transformation Grants that have supported Q2030 directly and organizations that are propelling a cool, creative, connected, and prosperous region forward.

Now, as Q2030 continues to be our region’s vision for the future, so too will it continue to be a guidepost at the Quad Cities Community Foundation. We will continue to listen to and work together with you to be part of building an inclusive, equitable and prosperous community in which every person has the opportunity to make a life for themselves, build or grow a business or nonprofit, and be part of a community in which more and more people choose to live, work and play.

At your Community Foundation, we champion generosity. And we continue to champion a vision that transforms our region. Thank you for being part of our work.
