John Anderson joins Community Foundation Board of Directors

John Anderson, CEO of Quad City Bank & Trust, is a Quad Citian, business leader, and philanthropist. Now, his decades of experience will bring a new perspective to the board of directors of the Quad Cities Community Foundation.

“The Community Foundation and its board are an incredible group of people, and they have done so much good for our community,” Anderson says. “I’m simply grateful to be asked to serve alongside them and join the effort to transform our region through generosity.”

The Community Foundation board is a group of volunteer advisors who offer their service, expertise, and commitment to guide and support the Community Foundation’s mission.

Anderson is a dedicated advocate of volunteer work. “When I was tapped on the shoulder and asked to volunteer many, many years ago, it lit a fire inside me,” Anderson says. “Not only did it help that organization, but it really opened my eyes. I believe in education—you can educate yourself formally, but you can also broaden your perspective by meeting different types of people and learning about different experiences. Volunteering is a powerful way to do that.”

This belief influences Anderson’s approach as a business leader. At Quad City Bank & Trust, employees receive paid volunteer hours, a way of encouraging staff members to take time from work and give back to their community. The policy has led to bank employees giving as many as 10,000 combined volunteer hours yearly. “The spirit of generosity exists throughout the Quad Cities,” says Anderson. “I believe it is important that businesses contribute to that spirit.”

Anderson has been a longtime supporter of area nonprofits, having partnered with St. Ambrose University, United Way of the Quad Cities, Ridgecrest Village, the African American Leadership Society, and the Catholic Foundation for the Diocese of Davenport (CFDD), among many others. “I have seen what the Community Foundation does in terms of giving back,” says Anderson. “It’s the kind of organization you want to be a part of, and they’re the people you want to be working with.”

“The Community Foundation’s board is an incredibly impressive group,” Anderson says. “I’m excited to learn from everyone in that room.” Anderson joins 14 other community leaders on the board, which is currently chaired by Kent Pilcher.

“I’m proud to play a small part for the Community Foundation,” Anderson says. “I just hope my service can be a positive contribution.”
