Community Foundation adds board members

Two new members have joined the Quad Cities Community Foundation Board of Directors, further strengthening the organization’s leadership as it continues its work to build a more connected and generous region.

Community member Malavika Shrikhande joins the board as a longtime partner and advocate of the Community Foundation, known for her relationship-centered approach to philanthropy. Her work has consistently focused on bringing people, ideas, and resources together in ways that create meaningful, lasting impact. With a professional background rooted in libraries and community partnerships, Shrikhande brings a perspective grounded in access, collaboration, and the belief that strong networks can expand opportunity for all. She previously served on the Hunt and Diane Harris Center for Nonprofit Excellence Advisory Committee, where she contributed to initiatives aimed at deepening community engagement.

Also joining the board is Dr. Richard Whitaker, CEO of Vera French Community Mental Health Center. Whitaker brings extensive experience in behavioral health, along with a deep personal and professional commitment to the well-being of the communities he serves. Throughout his career, he has focused on expanding access to care and supporting individuals and families across all stages of life. His leadership in the mental health field adds important insight to the board’s work, particularly as communities continue to navigate growing and complex health needs.

“Our board plays a critical role in guiding the Community Foundation’s work and ensuring we remain responsive to the needs and opportunities across our region,” said Sue Hafkemeyer, president and CEO of the Quad Cities Community Foundation. “Our new members each bring a strong sense of purpose, deep community knowledge, and a collaborative spirit that will help move our work forward.”

Shrikhande and Whitaker join a board leadership team that includes John Anderson, chair; Dr. LaDrina Wilson, vice chair; Kent Pilcher, past chair; Suresh Balakrishnan, treasurer; and Cristy Tackett-Hunt, secretary.

Together, the board provides strategic oversight for the Community Foundation’s efforts to connect donors to the causes they care about, strengthen local nonprofits, and invest in the long-term vitality of the Quad Cities region.
