Community Foundation celebrates successful $50,000 endowment match
Plus opportunities for high impact giving to start the year
A $50,000 endowment gift match initiative at the Quad Cities Community Foundation this winter inspired local donors and demonstrated the collective generosity of the Quad Cities community.
Through this limited-time challenge, gifts of up to $500 per household to endowment funds held at the Community Foundation were matched dollar for dollar. By the close of the match in late December, the full $50,000 was claimed, unlocking $100,000 in total charitable investment for the region.
In total, 145 donors stepped forward to support 85 different endowment funds, strengthening a wide range of causes that matter to our community, from nonprofit organizations and scholarships to long-term community resources.
“This challenge showed what’s possible when people come together with a shared commitment to the future of our region,” said Sue Hafkemeyer, president and CEO of the Quad Cities Community Foundation. “Each matched gift not only doubled its immediate impact, but also helped build permanent charitable resources that will support our community for generations. We’re so excited by the number and range of donors who stepped up during this event.”
Since 1964, the Quad Cities Community Foundation has stewarded the generosity of donors to advance the vitality of the region. Endowment funds play a critical role in this work, providing steady, predictable support for nonprofits, students, and community assets year after year.
“These results reflect a new level of generosity and shared purpose,” Hafkemeyer added. “A gift to endowment is both a commitment to today’s needs and an investment in our shared future—and this community rose to the occasion.”
The beginning of 2026 is another great time to contribute to an endowed fund and take advantage of state tax credits. Illinois Gives—available to all Illinois taxpayers—offers a 25 percent income tax credit to individuals who contribute to permanent endowment funds held by the Quad Cities Community Foundation. Tax credits are limited each year. Make a gift early and ensure maximum tax advantage for your charitable contribution.
